I was fortunate enough to have heard many of John’s performances previously, so I had a good understanding of his excellent techniques and abilities on the instrument. I tried to incorporate his lyrical but extremely well-articulated sound quality within the piece. The piano part supports the clarinet line through active and rhythmic passages. The structure of the piece was strictly driven from a song called Space Cowboy by a well-known British group Jamiroquai.
