Groove Etude

$35.00

Duration: 6'

Instrumentation: Viola and Harpsichord

Delivery Method: Physical Delivery
Performance Materials: Piano Score and Part

Groove Etude in Rondo Form is the first in a set of “groove etudes” written for solo instrument or a duo of instruments, the basic premise revolving around the musicians(') ability to lock into a groove. Because this is a characteristic that is not largely taught in music conservatories (outside of jazz), and because it is one of the main elements in many of my own pieces, I found it necessary to provide opportunities to help with this deficit. The goal is for the performers to move from the precision of counting (which may be needed at first) to that of “feeling the groove.”
