Bloom is a musical exploration of the concept that the most courageous of flowers is the one which blooms in the snow, against all odds and despite adversity. At the work's core is the one of the most common chord progressions found in popular music (I - V - vi - IV), with melodic fragments that represent themes such as unity, growth, and perseverance.
This piece was commissioned by the Toronto Montessori School Modern Music Ensemble, directed by Rachel MacDonald. The first edition was published in 2018; this edition was created in 2024.

Instrumentation: Flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet 1-2, bass clarinet, alto saxophone 1-2, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet 1-2, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, timpani, glockenspiel, ride cymbal, drumset (snare and bass drum), piano
