This music is for my father. During the time that I wrote this piece, my father entered into Hospice care. He had fought a valiant thirteen-year struggle with prostate cancer, and his treatment options were exhausted. Before completing Here, Leaving, I was fortunate to share fourteen days with him at his home in Boulder, Colorado, as he slowly transitioned from life to death. He passed away peacefully in the early morning of 2 February 2010.

I miss you, dad: James Teigen Peterson (24 March 1940 - 2 February 2010).
