Fanfare & Anthem

Fanfare & Anthem, Josh Trentadue (2022, rev. 2025) 6'30"
for wind ensemble
This fanfare and anthem for wind ensemble is inspired by two different poems: John Keats's To Hope and Emily Dickinson's "Hope" is the thing with feathers. What starts as a traditional fanfare eventually, and naturally, transforms into an anthem full of a sense of spirited youthfulness. The piece's thematic and motivic material therefore undergoes a transformative change from beginning to end, moving from moments of tension and alarm to brighter colors and textures of sound.
