First Light was commissioned by Musicopia String Orchestra through grants from the American Composers’ Forum, Philadelphia Chapter, and Stockton Bartol Rush Foundation.  The work was created to give the opportunity for beginning string players to perform with professionals.

First Light starts with the beginners, then the professional performers add themselves, slowly wrapping their arms around the children.
