Collected Songs, Will Liverman (2026)
for medium/low voice and piano
I began writing music during the pandemic as a way to find some sort of release of expression. It started when my good friend and amazingly talented colleague, Lauren Snouffer commissioned me to set Paul Laurence Dunbar’s “A Golden Day.” Something in his words opened a door for me l, and from there I found myself increasingly inspired by his poetry and by the writing of his former wife, Alice Dunbar-Nelson.
What began with one song that I thought would never see the light of day, slowly grew into something much larger. I started to gradually build a body of songs over time, and every bit of this unexpected journey has been so inspiring and joyful. My hope is that you find something that speaks to you.
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged and supported me throughout this writing journey, and especially to my mom and dad, whose belief in me have been there through every chapter in my life.
